Come visit beautiful Altata!
Find yourself in this undiscovered gem,
away from the tourists,
in genuine Mexican hospitality.
Fewer than 50 yachts per year visit our lovely bay which is
nearly 15 miles long. On it's calm waters, you'll only be a dinghy
ride away from the beaches and great restaurants. And when you visit,
you'll have your choice of dozens of good spots to anchor in
our well protected bahia.
Hailed as "the cruising discovery of the decade" by Latidude 38° magazine, Altata is sure to become a destination for more and more Yatistas in upcoming years.
Current activities include Horseback Riding, Jet Skiing, Ecotourism and Exploring. Off Roading, and Golfing can be arranged, as well as much, much more. And if that is not enough, then you're sure to enjoy the great Dining, Dancing, and Live Music nightly at the many beachfront restaurants.
And since there are no cruise ships, no airport, and no hotels, Altata caters to the boating enthuisast who knows and deserves the rewards of visiting such a special place.
Be sure to stop by La Perla Restaurant and say hello to the owner Gustavo who can help you with the many details of your stay here, including obtaining diesel fuel, gasoline and provisions.
The Capitan de Peurto can be reached on VHF channel 16, and there is a pilot boat available for the wary or during inclement weather. Please click here for charts and more information on entering Bahia de Altata.
Planned Marina and Beachfront Community
Under construction is a new Marina with Fuel Dock and
a Beachfront Community. The development will be of a low-impact
urban design, with all roads, materials, and architecture in total
harmony with nature. When completed the integration will allow visitors
to walk, bicycle, or skate the length of the peninsula on a special
walkway only 50 yards from the beach.
The development, entirely funded by private citizens of Altata, will provide sustainable jobs with the objective of the preservation and improvement of the ecology of the Lucenilla Peninsula. There will be a main boulevard 60 yards wide with a central 20 yards wide which splits off to access the many attractive services. More details and news can be found at www.MexicoBoating.com.
